Tarsus Half Is Back
After a 2-year break that upsetted the road runners, Tarsus Half Marathon reappears on the calendar. 25 March 2018 is the day for the exciting comeback.
Staged between 2004 and 2015, International Tarsus Half Marathon had gained a seat among the road races in Turkey with its high quality. Thanks to the Municipality of Tarsus, the event will resume in 2018. Along with the half marathon, there is also a fun run on the programme on Sunday, 25 March.
The race had another interruption in 2009, however, it welcomed many outstanding international athletes during the 11 years it was held. Men’s course record of 1:02:05 dates back to 2007, set by Kenyan Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich who won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games, then broke the world record by 2:03:23 in Berlin the following year. Atsede Baysa of Ethiopia owns the women’s record with 1:09:37, a time she achieved three weeks before she went on to take the ninth place in 2012 London Marathon.
