Another Record Measurement by Depar

Two women’s world road race records fell at the Trunsylvania 10km Race where the timing services were provided by Depar Timing.

The Brasov Running Festival, staged in the city of Brasov in Romania and consisted of ten different road races in the same weekend, is held on 9th and 10th of September this year. World Athletics Elite Label Trunsylvania 10km, the flagship event of the Festival, saw two incredible world records on Sunday. Agnes Ngetich of Kenya shattered the women-only 10km world record by 29:24, 37 seconds faster than the previous record 30:01 held by her compatriot Agnes Tirop. On her way to the victory, Ngetich bettered also the 5km women-only world record in a time of 14:25, beating the record of 14:29 set by Ethiopia’s Senbere Teferi two years ago. It was Weldon Langat winning the men’s 10km to make a double for Kenya in the most significant sporting event of the Transylvania region.

While all the races, including kids races on various distances, open races and the Romanian National 5km Championships, were timed by a multi-national team of Depar Timing, a European Road Mile was inaugurated on Saturday. Men’s Mile was won by Robin van Riel of the Netherlands in 4:05.5, and the Turkish European Indoor finalist Emine Hatun Mechaal Mechaal was victorious by 4:41.7 on the women’s side.

Having served numerous events in three continents and recorded several national, area and world records since 2006, Depar Timing has been a reliable partner to the Brasov Running Festival. Romanian organisers entrust Depar Timing with the timing services since the very first edition of the event.
