Cyclists To Pedal For The Rainbow Jersey

UCI Road World Championships is set to start off in Bergen on Saturday, 16 September. At the end of the 9-day event, the winners will have the right to wear the rainbow jersey for the following 12 months.

UCI Road World Championships is back to Norway first time since 1993. The event also returns to September after being staged a month later than its usual dates in order to avoid the extreme heat in Doha last year. The time trials will kick off competition on the first two days of the championships, while the road races for Elite Women and Elite Men will take place on the last two days, respectively Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September. The world champions will have the right to wear the rainbow jersey, one of the most prestigious jerseys that a cyclist could be awarded in a lifetime, until the next championships in Innsbruck, Austria in 2018.

Timing at the UCI Road World Championships is provided via ProChip, a system which is offered to the race organisers in Turkey by Depar Timing. As it is fast, reliable and accurate to one-thousands of a second, MYLaps ProChip Timing System is also used for the cycling events at the Summer Olympics.
